The government of the Portland region in northern Somalia announced on Sunday the introduction of a ban on the use of single-use plastics in its territory as part of the efforts to protect the environment.
As stated in the official announcement, the government of Portland is specifically aiming to combat pollution and maintain the cleanliness of the surrounding environment through the ban on the use of plastic products in single-use applications. This measure is aimed at promoting ecological sustainability and preserving the natural resources of the region.
Vice President of Portland Mohammed Ali Ghass strongly stated: "We have made this decision an important step in protecting our environment from the dangers posed by single-use plastics."
