
The Somali army announced the destruction of 40 militants from the terrorist organization "Islamic State" ("ISIS") in the Puntland province in the northeastern part of the country.
According to military information, operations against extremists were conducted in the region, which led to the death of 40 militants of "ISIS". They also stated that during the battle, three Somali soldiers were killed.
"This successful operation enhances our efforts to ensure national security and stability in Somalia," stated the army representative.
ISIS regularly carries out attacks in Somalia, seeking to expand its influence in the country's territory. In a previous incident, in July, terrorists killed 15 people in the village of Afgoye, located southwest of the capital Mogadishu.
